Community Collection

This is easily one of my favorite finds thus far. I am an online shopaholic, especially because I have a mild phobia about shopping in stores (more like, it irritates the life out of me!) And there’s something special about discovering designer deals on the Web.

Community Collection is a brand new luxury e-retailer carrying lines such as Alexander Wang, Current/Elliot and Yigal Azrouël’s Cut25. But the main aspect that sets it apart from say, Net-a-Porter, is that 20% of the proceeds are donated to charity. Every designer is paired up with a cause – from Operation Smile to Girls, Inc. – for the duration of the campaign, and then 20% of all of the sales is sent off to the cause of choice. Community Collection even tracks, measures, and reports on the progress of the donation so that you know exactly how your sale is impacting lives.

The other cool component is the site’s Inspire blog, which will feature exclusive interviews with its designers as well as trend watches and other “inspiring” messages. I give many kudos to founder, Brooks Cook, for developing such an “inspired” business!
